Ingredients:
- Bread slices, white or brown - 5
- Oil - 1 tbs
- Onion chopped - 1 cup
- Green chilli - 1
- Ginger, minced - 1/2 tsp
- Garlic, minced - 1/2 tsp
- Egg - 2
- Tomato chopped - 3/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chicken masala powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Crumble the bread slices using your fingers. It need not be very fine or uniform.
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add onion, ginger, garlic and green chilli and fry till onion is translucent
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and chicken masala and mix well
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are cooked well
- Add salt to taste
- Make a well in the pan centre by moving the onion mixture to the sides
- Add eggs in the middle and stir the egg to make the egg scrambled
- Once egg is half cooked, mix well with the onion mixture
- Once the egg mixture is almost dry switch off the flame
- In a puttu maker, make layers of bread crumbs and egg mixture, starting and ending with egg mixture.
- Cook puttu in steam for 5 minutes
Steaming puttu is ready to be served
- Note:
- Above recipe yields 3 small puttu.(chiratta or bowl shaped small puttu)
